UPDATE: A mass shooting at the Taste of the City Lounge in Crown Heights, New York City, has left three dead and eight injured early this morning. The incident occurred just before 3:30 AM local time, triggering emergency responses from the New York Police Department (NYPD).
Officers arrived at the scene within minutes of receiving multiple emergency calls, as confirmed by NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch. Inside the restaurant, they discovered “numerous gunshot victims” aged between 27 and 61. Tragically, two men aged 27 and 35, along with another unidentified victim, were pronounced dead.
“This was a terrible shooting,” Tisch stated at a press conference, describing the event as an “anomaly” amid the city’s near-record-low shooting rates. She emphasized the urgent nature of the investigation, noting that multiple shooters were involved and that police had already recovered at least 36 shell casings from the scene.
Currently, the assailants remain at large, prompting detectives to canvass CCTV footage from the surrounding areas. Authorities have also located a firearm in a nearby location, which they are investigating for potential links to the shooting.
As the investigation unfolds, the community is left in shock over this violent incident. The NYPD is urging anyone with information to come forward.
