BREAKING: A trail bike rider has been found deceased in the Wombeyan Caves area following a large-scale search operation involving multiple agencies. The tragic discovery was made on September 5, 2023, around 10:30 AM, just one day after the rider was reported missing.

Authorities, including NSW Police, NSW RFS, and SES, initiated the search on September 4 after a man in his sixties failed to return from a recreational ride. The rider had departed from Farmborough Heights at 8:00 AM, planning to traverse Swallow Tail Pass between Taralga and Marulan, with an expected return time of 3:30 PM.

The search operation escalated quickly, utilizing air support and ground teams to comb through the dense bushland. Tragically, the rider’s motorcycle and body were located approximately 15 metres down an embankment along Wombeyan Caves Road. While formal identification is pending, authorities believe the deceased is the missing man.

A spokesperson for the police stated,

“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding this incident, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”

This incident highlights the inherent dangers of outdoor recreational activities, particularly in remote areas. The community is mourning the loss, as friends and family await official confirmation and further details.

As investigations continue, authorities urge all outdoor enthusiasts to prioritize safety and inform someone of their travel plans before heading out.
