BREAKING: A 56-year-old man has been charged with high range drink driving after his empty car rolled down a hill and plunged into Carcoar Dam on December 17, 2023. The incident occurred just after 9 PM when police were alerted to a welfare concern.

Upon arrival, officers from the Chifley Police District discovered that the driver had exited the vehicle before it rolled into the dam. A roadside breath test revealed a positive result, prompting police to take the man into custody. He was transported to Blayney Police Station, where a secondary breath analysis recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.187, significantly over the legal limit.

As a result of the incident, the driver was charged with high range drink driving and issued a Court Attendance Notice to appear at Blayney Local Court on January 19, 2024. Additionally, his driver’s license has been suspended pending the court’s decision.
