UPDATE: A devastating fire is currently ravaging the Central Coast near Woy Woy, forcing residents to evacuate immediately. Homes have already been destroyed as flames consume the area, prompting emergency warnings for those living near Nimbin Road, Glenrock Parade, Lara Street, and Nimala Avenue.

The NSW Rural Fire Service issued a critical advisory at approximately 3:30 PM on December 6, emphasizing the urgency for residents to leave if the route to Woy Woy is clear. “Embers will be blown long distances ahead of the main fire front, starting spot fires that may impact your home earlier than the main fire front,” officials warned.

Currently, Brisbane Water Drive between Woy Woy and Tascott is closed, complicating evacuation efforts. An evacuation center has been set up at the Gosford RSL Club on the Central Coast Highway, providing a safe haven for those fleeing the blaze.

Residents are urged to stay informed through the Fires Near Me app and to implement their bushfire survival plans immediately. The transport situation is dire, with train services between Gosford and Hornsby suspended. Transport for NSW reports that only a limited number of buses are operational, with significant delays expected and no stops at Koolewong, Tascott, and Point Clare due to road closures.

Individuals with respiratory issues are particularly vulnerable, as smoke lingers over the region from multiple fires. They are advised to stay indoors, close windows, and seek medical assistance if necessary.

A total fire ban is in effect across much of New South Wales, including the Hunter region and central parts of the state. Forecasted thunderstorms pose additional risks, with winds reaching up to 90 km/h. While temperatures are expected to drop from Sunday for most of New South Wales and southern Australia, heat is projected to escalate again across northern Australia and Western Australia early next week, heightening fire risks.

Stay tuned for live updates as this situation develops. The safety of residents remains the top priority as emergency services work tirelessly to contain the blaze.
