UPDATE: A crucial speed limit reduction is now in effect on the M1 Princes Motorway at Mount Ousley, drastically altering traffic conditions for commuters. As of September 8, the speed limit for light vehicles has been cut from 80km/h to 60km/h over a 1.8-kilometre stretch of the southbound lanes, starting near Mount Ousley Road.
Heavy vehicles will face further restrictions, with a new speed limit of 40km/h descending down Mount Ousley, before increasing to 60km/h, down from 80km/h. This significant change is part of the ongoing Mount Ousley Interchange project and will remain in place for the next 18 months, operating from 7 AM Monday to 5 PM Friday. Notably, the reduced speed limits will not apply during public holidays and peak holiday periods.
Motorists are strongly urged to adhere to these new limits due to an increase in heavy vehicle movements, machinery, and construction personnel in close proximity to the motorway. Authorities emphasize the need for drivers to adjust their speed to match road conditions and to follow all posted signs and traffic controls.
This development is critical for the safety of all road users, especially during peak hour traffic. Stay informed and drive safely as these changes take effect immediately.
