URGENT UPDATE: Two men are being sought by police following a significant theft of power tools valued at over $3,000 from a rural property in Chiltern. The incident occurred on September 25, and authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant.

The theft took place at a property located on Horns Access Road, where the thieves made off with an array of high-value tools, including equipment from renowned brands such as Hitachi, AEG, and Makita. Items stolen include a Hitachi radio, a 125mm angle grinder, various drills, batteries, and additional accessories essential for the victim’s work as a tradesman.

Leading Senior Constable Lucy Smith provided insights into the crime, stating, “The owner of the property had cameras and has provided CCTV footage of two male offenders to police.” It appears the suspects traversed nearby paddocks to access the tools, making this brazen act even more alarming.

The victim’s need for these tools is imperative, as they are crucial for his livelihood. “It’s adjacent to the southbound lanes of the Hume Freeway,” added Smith, highlighting the location’s accessibility.

In addition to this theft, police are investigating other related incidents, including a car theft at the Springhurst train station and a bike theft at the Chiltern station. “It’s just a reminder for people using the train services to be extra vigilant,” Smith stated. Both the car and bike had been secured prior to their theft.

Authorities are calling for anyone with information regarding the suspects or the stolen tools to come forward. Individuals are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers or their local police stations at 1800 333 000. Your vigilance could help bring these offenders to justice.
