URGENT UPDATE: The search for missing preschooler August “Gus” has been dramatically scaled back, as South Australian police now believe the four-year-old is likely deceased. Gus vanished from his family’s sheep station in the remote South Australian outback on Saturday afternoon, and authorities have confirmed that no significant evidence has been uncovered to assist in locating him.
The only clue found was a tiny footprint located approximately 500 metres from the family homestead, raising serious concerns about Gus’s fate. An extensive search operation involving police, Defence Force personnel, and numerous volunteers has yielded no results. “Whilst we’ve all been hoping for a miracle, that miracle has not eventuated,” stated SA Police Assistant Commissioner Ian Parrott during a press briefing on Friday.
