UPDATE: Households in Heathcote and Marong are facing an urgent deadline to inform Solstice Energy about changes to their hot water, heating, or cooking appliances. Affected customers must submit their appliance choices by March 2024. This impacts 100 households in Heathcote and 305 households in Marong.

Residents are required to decide whether to switch to electric or bottled LPG options and can do so through the Solstice Energy website. This decision is pivotal as it directly affects household energy costs and comfort, making it essential for residents to act promptly.

City Healthy Communities and Environments Director Jess Howard announced that local officials will provide support through a series of drop-in sessions in both towns from January to March 2024. These sessions aim to assist residents in making informed decisions regarding their energy needs. “Our drop-in sessions and new in-home visits are designed to give impacted residents clear, practical advice,” Ms. Howard stated.

During these sessions, residents can seek answers to their questions and explore various options for electrification of appliances. Additionally, customers can book an in-home energy snapshot, which will outline potential upgrades and strategies to minimize heating and cooling needs.

“The transition can feel overwhelming, so we want to make it easier for residents,” Ms. Howard emphasized. This initiative is not just about understanding appliances; it is also about empowering households to lower their bills while enhancing their living comfort.

The drop-in sessions will run throughout January to March 2024. For specific dates and further details, affected residents are encouraged to visit the CoGB website. Immediate action is necessary as the deadline approaches, making this a critical moment for families in Heathcote and Marong.

Stay tuned for more updates as this situation develops, and ensure your voice is heard before the upcoming deadline.
