BREAKING: A woman has been taken to the hospital following a serious car crash on the Great Western Highway in the Central West, causing significant traffic disruptions. The incident occurred at approximately 12:25 PM on October 29, 2023, when emergency services responded to reports of a single-vehicle accident near Hartley.

Paramedics from NSW Ambulance arrived swiftly at the scene, providing immediate treatment to a lady in her 60s. She was subsequently transported to Lithgow Integrated Health Service with minor injuries. Currently, one of the two eastbound lanes remains closed near Jenolan Caves Road, as traffic authorities manage the situation.

This crash marks the second significant accident in the region today. Earlier this morning at around 7:45 AM, a separate single-vehicle crash on Portland Cullen Bullen Road resulted in a tragic fatality. Emergency responders found an 85-year-old driver trapped in his vehicle after it collided with a tree. Despite prompt assistance from officers with the Chifley Police District, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
