UPDATE: Disturbing new details have emerged regarding a violent incident at a childcare centre in Peregian Springs on the Sunshine Coast, where a man armed with a knife created chaos before taking his own life. Police were called to Habitat Early Learning on Monday evening, around 6 PM, following reports of a break-in that forced a lockdown just before pick-up time.

Five staff members and six children were trapped inside as Reubhan Ralph, 28, violently entered the centre, threatening those inside. Authorities arrived within 20 minutes to find Ralph inflicting self-harm.

Acting Inspector Scott Wiggins reported, “Police were confronted with a male who had self-inflicted injuries.” Despite efforts to subdue him using probes that delivered approximately 1,200 volts, these measures were ineffective. “Sadly, he has succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the scene,” Wiggins added.

The officers involved in this traumatic incident have reportedly taken leave, and their return to duty remains uncertain. Police Minister Dan Purdie expressed his condolences, calling the situation “tragic and horrific.”

In response to the incident, Habitat Early Learning will remain closed for the rest of the week, impacting the families who depend on the facility for care.

Ralph was previously known for his controversial online presence as an OnlyFans creator and had a criminal history, including a dangerous crime spree in South Bank Parklands, Brisbane, which resulted in his parole in June.

This shocking incident not only raises questions about safety in childcare facilities but also highlights the urgent need for mental health support and crisis intervention.

As the community grapples with the emotional aftermath, authorities will be closely scrutinizing how the situation unfolded and what measures can be implemented to prevent such occurrences in the future.
