UPDATE: RACV has just launched the Home Safety Pulse survey, urging Victorians to voice their feelings about safety in their homes and communities. This survey, which takes less than five minutes to complete, comes in response to alarming crime statistics showing over 483,500 criminal incidents reported in Victoria within the past year, ending June 30, 2025.
The urgency of this survey cannot be overstated as it aims to capture crucial insights into how safe Victorians feel and what factors influence those feelings. Liz Carey, RACV General Manager of Corporate Affairs, stressed the importance of understanding these perceptions. “We know that many factors can affect how safe people feel – from home security technology to awareness of local crime rates and community connections,” Ms. Carey stated.
The Home Safety Pulse survey offers every Victorian the chance to share their personal experiences, providing invaluable data that will guide local and state-wide crime prevention strategies. Results will be shared with government officials to inform programs aimed at reducing home-related crime and enhancing community safety.
The survey will remain open until January 2026, allowing enough time for residents to participate. Notably, it follows the 2023 Home Safety survey, which gathered responses from over 7,000 Victorians on their home safety perceptions. This presents a critical opportunity for residents to influence future safety measures in their neighborhoods.
All responses will remain anonymous and are not intended for marketing or insurance purposes, ensuring that participants can speak freely about their concerns. RACV is focused on tangible programs that can provide real support to Victorians, making this survey a vital tool in shaping community safety initiatives.
Victorians can complete the survey through RACV’s “Have Your Say” webpage. For additional information and expert advice on enhancing home safety, residents can visit the RACV website.
