This victory marks a significant moment for the Bees, who faced the Bulls in a preliminary final last season, ending their championship dreams.
Despite notable offseason changes, including the departure of key players Mick O’Neill and Brendan Barker, Werribee showcased resilience and talent on the green. The Bees split the rinks, with standout performances from Gavin Joyce‘s rink winning 14-10 and Robert Panton‘s rink dominating with a 32-18 victory. Although Robert Smith‘s rink fell 19-16 and Ian Milledge‘s rink lost 20-18, the overall team effort secured the win.

Meanwhile, in division 3, section 1, the Hoppers made a triumphant return after being promoted from division 4 last season. They secured victory against Bacchus Marsh 2 with an impressive 88-63 score, winning all four rinks. Albert Wu‘s rink led the charge with a significant 27-13 win.
In division 4, section 1, Point Cook also celebrated a successful opener, defeating Williamstown 2 with a score of 81-67. Brian Turner‘s rink was a highlight, leading the way with a commanding 26-10 victory.
