UPDATE: Western Australians have come together to achieve an astonishing new record of $90,160,275 during Telethon 2025, solidifying its status as the most impactful live TV fundraising event globally. This remarkable achievement, reached over an inspiring weekend, surpasses last year’s total of $83,264,216 and brings the overall fundraising since Telethon’s inception in 1968 to over $750 million.

The funds raised will directly impact the lives of sick and vulnerable children in the region. Telethon chairman Richard Goyder expressed gratitude for the community’s support, stating, “Every dollar that this amazing community contributes goes to the people who need it in Western Australia.”

As the broadcast concluded, Kerry Stokes, chairman of Seven West Media, and his wife, Christine Simpson-Stokes, made a generous donation of $5 million, demonstrating the commitment to swiftly deliver the funds to those most in need. “Come tomorrow morning at 9 o’clock Telethon will be committed to implementing all the programs you’ve seen,” Stokes affirmed.

The total came after an incredible 26 hours filled with joy, entertainment, and community spirit unique to Western Australia. The impact of Telethon was palpable, as seen in the heartwarming reactions of beneficiaries like Izzy Miller, a five-year-old Telethon star who expressed her delight at receiving a new backyard from the Build Now Foundation.

Major contributions poured in from the business sector, with BHP donating $5.5 million, and Rio Tinto contributing another $5.5 million. The Federal Government, represented by Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles, pledged $6 million during the event, reinforcing the importance of collective action for community welfare. The State Government’s record contribution of $14 million pushed the final tally beyond last year’s total.

WA Premier Roger Cook praised the community’s unity, stating, “There’s just a general vibe in the community that everyone’s going to get on board.” The sense of pride echoed throughout the state as numerous volunteers, families, and businesses rallied to support the cause.

The Telethon home auction also broke records, selling for $1.375 million, with proceeds rounding up to $1.4 million thanks to partners like Home Group and Satterley. Ryan Stokes, CEO of Seven Group Holdings, noted the deep-rooted tradition Telethon has become for generations of Western Australians.

The emotional stories shared during the broadcast highlighted the profound impact of Telethon. Families like that of Hemi Andrews, a five-year-old who has undergone six open-heart surgeries, expressed immense pride in their children’s courage. His mother, Brooke, stated, “It was such a proud moment for the whole family, watching our boy stand strong.”

Telethon’s magic was evident not only in financial contributions but also in the spirit of the community. Thousands of volunteers, children who donated their pocket money, and businesses, small and large, exemplified the collective effort to support sick children in need.

With the success of Telethon 2025, the community looks ahead to implementing crucial programs. The ongoing commitment to improving the lives of WA’s children remains paramount, with Telethon’s legacy continuing to inspire hope and change for years to come.

As excitement builds for future events, the impact of Telethon and the unity of Western Australians serve as a testament to the power of community action. The weekend’s success proves that together, they can achieve extraordinary outcomes for their most vulnerable citizens.
