URGENT UPDATE: An original theatre production featuring a vibrant ensemble of young performers is set to take the stage at the Bowery Theatre in Brimbank for one night only on September 6 at 7 PM. Titled MOSAIC: The Thrive Anthology, this show promises an exhilarating blend of creativity and expression as it brings together talented individuals from Footscray, Wyndham, and St Albans.

Developed over 17 weeks, MOSAIC showcases the diverse perspectives of local theatre makers aged 18 to 30. According to John Marc Desengano, co-artistic director of Western Edge, the production is entirely devised and performed by these young artists, making it a unique cultural event. “It’s a pretty special show,” Desengano noted. “We have scenes about capitalism, about being immigrants, about being a cat that wants a home… It’s this cacophony of wonderful voices and the way they see the world.”

The show is designed around the theme of ‘thrive,’ encouraging participants to explore and express their artistic visions through a series of prompts and improvisation activities led by professional theatre makers. This collaborative process has enabled performers, some of whom have never stepped onto a stage before, to share their stories with vulnerability and excitement.

Desengano emphasized the eclectic nature of the show, stating, “There’s no narrative through line… Expect comedy, drama, a little bit of absurdism, big characters, pathos. It really is a complete variety show.” This mixture of genres and styles is set to engage audiences on multiple levels, making it an event not to be missed.

The performance is supported by the Brimbank Council’s community grants program, alongside contributions from Maribyrnong City Council, Wyndham City Council, and the Hugh D.T. Williamson Foundation. Entry fees are based on donation amounts, allowing everyone in the community to participate and support these young talents.

As anticipation builds, this one-night-only event is rapidly approaching, and tickets are expected to go quickly. For more information on how to reserve your spot, visit creativebrimbank.com.au.
