Filming for the much-anticipated film Ocean’s 14 is set to commence in 2026, according to actor and director George Clooney. In an interview with Variety, Clooney confirmed that the script is “in great shape” and that the focus is now on coordinating schedules for the cast and crew.
The upcoming installment continues the legacy of the Ocean’s franchise, a modern take on the classic 1960s American heist film of the same name. Clooney expressed enthusiasm about the progress of the project, stating, “The script is done, we’re in great shape, it’s just scheduling now and we’ll get that together by next year.”
In a lighthearted moment during the interview, Clooney referenced a recent heist at the Louvre, the world’s most-visited museum. On October 19, 2023, thieves executed a brazen theft, stealing priceless Napoleonic jewels valued at approximately €88 million (about $102 million). Clooney remarked, “It was cool. I mean, it’s terrible. But if you’re a professional thief like I am, I was very proud of those guys. It is pretty funny, it really was like Ocean’s. In the middle of broad daylight, it’s crazy.”
Details of the Louvre heist indicated that the operation took less than eight minutes. Thieves used a basket lift to access the museum’s facade, forcibly entered through a window, smashed display cases, and fled with the valuables. Following a week-long manhunt, two suspects were arrested, one attempting to board a flight to Algeria. Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau confirmed that forensic experts are analyzing numerous samples from the crime scene to gather more evidence.
Clooney humorously suggested that he should be digitally inserted into a scene resembling the Louvre heist, echoing the comparisons made between the incident and the plots of his films. “I think you gotta put me in like CGI me into that basket coming out of the Louvre. I think you should do that. Yeah, we get blamed for everything now,” he joked while promoting his upcoming film Jay Kelly in Los Angeles.
While specifics about Ocean’s 14 remain under wraps, Clooney hinted that original stars Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Don Cheadle are expected to reprise their roles. Additionally, reports suggest that David Leitch, known for directing films like The Fall Guy and Deadpool 2, may take the helm for this new installment.
As anticipation builds for Ocean’s 14, fans can expect a blend of humor and heist action that has characterized the franchise. With a script ready and a talented cast on board, the film is poised to continue the legacy of its predecessors, captivating audiences once again.
