The annual Albany Open tennis championships took place at the Emu Point Sporting Club over the weekend of October 14-15, 2023, attracting competitors from various regions, including Perth and Merredin. On Saturday, the tournament featured 72 participants in the men’s and women’s doubles competitions, while an additional 38 players competed in mixed doubles. The range of ages among the competitors was impressive, with players as young as 13 and others as seasoned as 78. Tournament organiser Louise Nolan expressed her satisfaction with the turnout, noting the positive energy throughout the event.
“It was really exciting to see so many people enjoying themselves and in a great competitive spirit,” Nolan stated. The diverse age range of participants added to the tournament’s charm, fostering a sense of community and engagement that resonated throughout the weekend.
