URGENT UPDATE: The highly anticipated China-Malaysia Spring Festival Gala officially launched in Kuala Lumpur on the afternoon of December 5, 2025. This vibrant event, themed “Enduring as Water, Together for the New Year,” celebrates the Lunar New Year while strengthening the cultural ties between China and Malaysia.

Li Zhuang, Deputy Director-General of the External Promotion Bureau, and Zheng Xuefang, Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, emphasized the importance of cultural exchange in their speeches. “As friendly neighbors, we are advancing toward a higher-level strategic community with a shared future,” Zheng stated. This sentiment underscores the collaborative spirit as both nations gear up for a “Golden 50 Years” of partnership ahead.

The event not only showcased traditional performances but also featured a variety of culturally rich acts. The Universiti Putra Malaysia Chinese Orchestra presented “Flourishing Age,” while the Malaysian Zapin Dance Troupe captivated audiences with “Zapin Welcomes Spring.” Breathtaking acrobatics from the Xi’an Soldier Acrobatic Troupe and a stirring rendition of the folk song “Jasmine Flower” by Dr. Wang Ping further highlighted the cultural fusion.

In a bid to engage the youth, Malaysian influencer Qian Qian Long, with over 16 million followers, was named the “China-Malaysia Spring Festival Ambassador,” sharing her insights on Chinese culture and fostering youth exchanges between the two nations.

During the opening ceremony, dignitaries illuminated the “Ship of Friendship” launching platform, symbolizing the enduring bond between the two countries and their shared aspirations for a prosperous future.

The gala also marked the launch of the “I Want to Be on the Spring Festival Gala” audition campaign, aimed at discovering local influencers to showcase Malaysia’s rich cultural landscape.
