UPDATE: The Leura Public School P&C Association has just announced an urgent fundraising campaign to raise $50,000 for a critical upgrade to the school library. With only $17,000 raised so far, the deadline to reach their goal is set for the end of 2025, aiming for the refurbished library to open in 2026.
President Rebecca Selkirk emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “Modernising a space as crucial as the library is something our children greatly need.” The current library is described as outdated, lacking essential technology, furniture, and resources, making this upgrade vital for the students’ learning environment.
To boost fundraising efforts, the P&C is hosting a book nerd trivia night on August 23 at Scenic World. This over-18 event will charge $10 per person or $100 for a table, with complimentary pizza snacks donated by Scenic World.
Additionally, on September 20, the P&C will hold its third annual Under the Stars Movie Night featuring the beloved film, My Neighbour Totoro, projected onto the town’s water supply tank. Tickets for this event are available at $10 per person, with children under two admitted for free.
The P&C Association is also providing local businesses with the opportunity to advertise on the school’s front fence as part of their fundraising strategy. This initiative not only aims to meet the financial goal but also fosters community involvement.
