The Twelve: Cape Rock Killer is headed to Foxtel and Binge.
The official trailer for the highly anticipated third season of The Twelve: Cape Rock Killer was unveiled today, spotlighting the stunning landscapes of Western Australia. Acclaimed actor Sam Neill returns as Brett Colby SC, alongside an impressive ensemble cast that includes Danielle Cormack, Eryn Jean Norvill, Ewan Leslie, and Nathalie Morris.
Western Australia’s Scenic Backdrop
Filming for this season took place in picturesque locations such as Margaret River and Yallingup, with the trailer showcasing a variety of iconic tourist spots. Production also extended to the city of Perth, where the State Parliament building served as a filming location.
In this season, Colby is drawn into a gripping murder case involving the husband of a long-time friend, which connects to a cold case from 1968 that remains unsolved. The official release describes the narrative as deeply personal for Colby, noting that “as the trial unravels a deeper mystery, a 1968 cold case murder of two teens is re-opened.”
Impact on Local Economy and Film Industry
This season features a jury composed of notable actors, including Leslie, Phoenix Raei, Hanah Tayeb, and Catherine Moore. The production of The Twelve: Cape Rock Killer is expected to have a significant economic impact, having created approximately 150 local jobs, including 50 speaking roles, and generating over $10 million AUD for the local economy. This surpasses the financial contributions of the previous season, which was also filmed in Western Australia.
Screenwest and the Western Australian Government have supported the series through the Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive. Rikki Lea Bestall, Chief Executive Officer of Screenwest, expressed enthusiasm about the production, stating, “The Twelve has proven Western Australia’s innate ability to attract premium productions to our state.” Bestall emphasized the importance of such series in providing opportunities for local crews and establishing Western Australia as a premier destination for screen production.
The third season of The Twelve promises to engage audiences with its blend of personal drama and intricate storytelling, set against the backdrop of Western Australia’s breathtaking landscapes. Viewers can look forward to its release, which is expected to further elevate the region’s profile in the film industry.
