BREAKING NEWS: The Windsor Experience has just announced a transformative community project that will gift a stunning new rotunda to the people of Windsor. This initiative celebrates local heritage and craftsmanship, marking a significant addition to Windsor Mall.
Earlier this year, community members voted to pool their resources for a meaningful and enduring project. Now, that vision is rapidly becoming a reality, as The Windsor Experience commits to funding the full cost of materials for the rotunda, which will be constructed entirely from local timbers using traditional joinery methods.
MASTER CARPENTER JEX PABLO is leading the effort, generously offering to build the rotunda free of charge in his workshop. Sponsored by The King’s Foundation, Pablo specializes in heritage construction techniques and runs educational programs that ensure these skills continue to thrive.
Once complete, the new rotunda will be delivered to Windsor and installed over a single weekend, perfectly mirroring the dimensions of the current structure. The group has already reached out to the Mayor, formally offering the rotunda as a community gift, complete with all necessary engineering certifications.
Local heritage experts collaborated closely with The Windsor Experience to ensure the design harmonizes with the town’s historic charm. Existing features, such as the beloved trellis and wisteria, will remain, preserving the unique atmosphere of the Mall.
AJ DUNDAS, Co-President of The Windsor Experience, expressed the project’s importance, stating, “With the recent upgrades to Windsor Mall and the rotunda’s more prominent position, we felt it was time for a design that better reflects Windsor’s heritage character, something that stands as a symbol of pride and craftsmanship.”
Community members are encouraged to contribute further donations to enhance the project, with funds designated for roofing details and decorative elements.
